A long overdue post of the extraordinary Annual Mooneyes Hot Rod Custom Show, in Yokohama, Japan. Typically where Japanese and international builders go to flaunt their latest and greatest.
This year's lot doesn't seem to showcase as many goodies compared to previous years. Yep, it's mainly bobbers. But nevertheless, there's still many fresh designs. The level of creativity at Mooneyes is world-class.
The competition amongst builders is as big as the custom motorcycle trend. Yet, regardless of competition, profit, or loss, they'll continue building bikes year after year. These builders dedicate their lives to the build, especially so for the ones based in Japan. It's a lifestyle. Best part about it is, they all appear to be friends. You won't hear anyone slandering another. The showcaser's have earned every ounce of admiration and envy from their onlookers.

Wish I was in Japan now. Would be great to escape Sydney's capricious Winter weather - Hot, cold, flash rain, icy nights, rain again... Nothing's better than downing bowls of noodles in a cozy ramen bar with blues playing in the background. Then finishing each meal with a cigarette inside with a steaming hot green tea.
Unlike the West, Japanese holidays don't gravitate around Christmas. If you have a December that's relative free, definitely consider checking out Mooneyes!
Details for the next show...
